How do I get access to local academic libraries as a TCC student?

Answer

Current TCC students, faculty, and staff can check out materials from most local academic libraries. See the options below.

Visit a campus library with your TCC ID and fill out an application at the circulation desk. To get the VTC library card, you must be a currently enrolled student at TCC and in good standing with TCC Libraries (no overdue books or debts).  Take your TCC ID and proof of current affiliation with TCC (e.g. your class schedule for students or your listing in the staff directory for faculty/staff).

Tips for making the most of your visit to a VTC or VIVA library:

  • Read the library's policies on loan periods and fines and fees. You will be responsible for returning that library's material to that library.
  • Consider searching the library's catalog or WorldCat to ensure they have the resource(s) you're looking for.
  • Interlibrary loan is also an option to have materials delivered to your campus. These materials can be returned to your TCC campus as well.
