How do TCC students, faculty, and staff access VBPL resources?
Answer
Through the partnership between Tidewater Community College and Virginia Beach Public Library at the Joint-Use Library, current TCC faculty, staff, and students have access to VBPL databases and resources. Those databases include Hoopla, Libby, and the VBPL catalog, where TCC users can place public library materials on hold and check on VBPL accounts to view current checkouts, renew materials, pay fines, etc. If you also have a VBPL card, you have two accounts with two PINS in the VBPL system.
Create a VBPL PIN:
-
Go to the VBPL homepage.
-
Click on My Account under the announcements.
-
At the login page, click on Forgot my PIN. Your Library Card is your EMPLID.
-
Check your @email.vccs.edu account for instructions on resetting the PIN.
-
Reset your PIN to something you will remember!
-
If you have any issues with setting a PIN or accessing VBPL resources, please call (757)822-7800 or come to any VBPL location, including the TCC/City of Virginia Beach Joint-Use Library.
With your TCC ID you can:
-
Check out materials at any VBPL branch with staff assistance. Your TCC ID is your library card!
-
Use self-check with your ID card at TCC libraries.
-
Return VBPL materials to any TCC or VBPL Library!
With your TCC ID and VBPL PIN you can:
- Place a hold or renew VBPL materials and pay fines in the VBPL catalog. The Joint Use Library is the only TCC library where you can pick-up VBPL materials. If you have anything checked out with your VBPL card, you'll have to log in to that account separately.
- Access VBPL databases.
- Use VBPL's Libby and Hoopla collections: VBPL's Digital Library provides access and instructions for downloading apps to use Libby and Hoopla. Then you can download materials from within the VBPL catalog.
