How to Return Items in Alma
There are two methods to return items in Alma. Items can be returned within the patron’s account, or you can access the Return Items page through the Fulfillment menu.
Answer
Return method #1 (preferred - return items in bulk)
STEP 1: Make sure WriteTags Security is set to turn the item security ON.
STEP 2: In Alma, click Fulfillment and Return Items.

STEP 3: Scan the item(s) in the “Scan item barcode” box on the “Manage Item Returns” page by placing the item(s) on the antennae.
*PATRONS WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL IMMEDIATELY AFTER ITEMS ARE RETURNED.

Return Method #2 (alternative method - return individual items)
STEP 1: Make sure WriteTags Security is set to turn the item security ON.
STEP 2: Search for patron in Alma.
STEP 3: On the My Institution -Loans page, click on Returns in the left box. Scan the item(s) in the “Scan item barcode” box by placing the item(s) on the antennae. Click OK.
*PATRONS WILL RECEIVE A RETURN RECEIPT VIA EMAIL AFTER YOU CLICK ON THE DONE BUTTON. IF YOU DO NOT CLICK ON THE BUTTON, PATRONS WILL NOT RECEIVE A RETURN RECEIPT.
