New Bookstore Manager
Abby Rhodes joined TCC as our new Barnes & Noble Bookstore Manager in August 2025. She brings valuable experience and is already working to improve operations. You can reach her at 757-822-7575 or arhodes@bncollege.com.
ISBN/Pricing Issues
Pricing discrepancies have been linked to special publisher-negotiated pricing not syncing with the BN system. If you arrange discounted pricing, please email details to Abby Rhodes and Tina Price early, so the correct pricing can be manually entered (may take 24–48 hours to update).
Late & Backordered Materials
Delays in printed materials and lab kits are often due to Barnes & Noble estimating stock before the semester starts. When enrollment exceeds estimates—especially with late student registrations—shortages and delays can occur. Delays have stemmed from enrollment-based ordering and late registrations.
Store Hours & Staffing
Staffing shortages have limited store hours. Chesapeake’s store is closed but offers pickup through the Business Office. Portsmouth and Norfolk stores are open with limited hours. Barnes and Noble is actively hiring, and alternative distribution methods are being explored.
