How do I search for books?

To find a book, use Library Catalog on the TCC Library Homepage

Use only the most essential words related to your topic.

Results may include books, e-books, videos, and journal articles. In your list of results, check the menu on the left for ways to limit your results to just books.

Selecting Books and Media will limit your results to books, ebooks, and videos in our collection.
 
Just want print books you can pick up off the library shelf? Select On Shelf.
 
Need books from a certain date? Narrow down by publication date.
 
Want to see what books are at a specific TCC campus? Select the Library.
 
Not enough results?  Try related terms or more general terms. Example: instead of death penalty, try capital punishment.Too many results?  Be more specific. Example: Instead of nursing, try pediatric nursing.
 
Take a look at your results. Pay close attention to the following things:

1. Results may include books, e-books, videos, and journal articles. Did you choose a book?
 
2. The record will tell you which library has the book. Some titles may be found at more than one campus library.
 
3. Available means that the book is at the library. Use the Call Number (example: DT61 .S57 2004) to find the book on the shelf. 
 
TIP: If the book you want is not at your campus, sign in with your myTCC username and password and you can use the Request option to have it sent over for free!
